A fully remodeled two-bedroom oceanfront condo at Makena Surf, a beachfront resort on Po'olenalena Beach at the quiet south end of Wailea. From December to April, the lanai is an excellent place to watch humpback whales.

Aloha, we're Nathan & Cindy. We live on Maui full time and look after this condo ourselves. For years it was rented through a management company; now you get the owners, who answer their own phone and know which rocks the turtles like.

The whole condo was remodeled with etched glass and tile, bamboo cabinets and granite throughout. The living room opens completely to a large lanai, so most of your day happens somewhere between the sofa and the railing.

Makena Surf is the quiet end of Wailea: past the big resorts, five minutes from the shops and restaurants, on a beachfront that rarely feels crowded. Everything you'd want from a Wailea resort, in a two-bedroom home of your own.

Our prices include all fees, plus Hawaii taxes. No booking-site service charge.

Inside

Main bedroom

Tempur-Pedic king with Tempur-Pedic pillows. A slider in the bathroom wall opens so you can see the ocean from the shower and the bed. Large walk-in shower.

Guest bedroom

Two Tempur-Pedic twins with Tempur-Pedic pillows, which we can join into a king if you ask ahead. It has its own adjacent bathroom.

Kitchen

Fully equipped, with a big island facing the ocean. A Vitamix, Instant Pot and Ninja air fryer grill, plus a Keurig, drip coffee maker and grinder for the morning.

Comfort

Each bedroom is its own air-conditioning zone, with its own controls, so everyone sleeps at the temperature they like. TVs in the living room and both bedrooms with local channels and HBO Max, ready for your Apple TV or Roku. Free Wi-Fi, washer and dryer.

On the water, and around it

Makena Surf is a beachfront resort on Po'olenalena Beach (often spelled Poolenalena), which locals also call Chang's Beach or Wedding Beach. The reef just off our stretch of shore is what snorkel boats call Turtle Town. You can walk there in a minute. Maluaka Beach is just down the road, and Makena Beach (Big Beach) is a short drive south.

Makena Surf has no elevators. We're on the third floor, which in this building means a flight and a half of stairs.

The only negative is that once you are on that lanai, you are going to have a hard time leaving to do all the wonderful things on the Island.
